Even though it’s only 8’ around and doesn’t hold all that much water, it never got warm. Eventually, I worked up the courage to get in. When I realized it was really chilly, but not unbearable, I started getting in after runs and hard workouts. A 15 minute soak in the pool is so much better than an ice bath because:

It’s not as cold and I don’t swear when i get in

My legs are more fully submersed

I can kick and move my legs around and they don’t get stiff

I get to use a pink or green inner tube, depending on my mood

The cat can’t terrify me by walking around the bathtub deck while I’m soaking. Instead, she watches from a window and I wave to her.

Recovery times were greatly improved and my legs felt fresh each day. Next year, I’ll won’t wait until August to take a little post-run soak.

We bought one of those little Intex pools for the kids this...

We bought one of those little Intex pools for the kids this summer. It’s a de-stinking detergent for technical fabrics. I’m happy to report that it works. It really works. After the first load of laundry, I learned that about half a cap if the right amount for clothes from 2-3 workouts. The only thing it didn’t totally remove the smell from was the short sleeve shirt I wore for every single run last summer. It was the only short sleeve running shirt I owned at the time and the stench was profound. It does smell better though!

Some of my $$$ running clothes were in danger of developing...

Some of my $$$ running clothes were in danger of developing perma-stink so I bit the bullet and shelled out $20 for 2 bottles of Win sports detergent, purchased through Amazon.
